Offer Condolences or MemoryHAZEL McRAE (nee DEWAR) Peacefully at the Selkirk General Hospital, Hazel McRae passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2002. She was predeceased by her loving husband Hunter McRae; their son James McRae; and sons-in-law, Glen Cottingham and Rask Klagenberg. She will be sadly missed by all her family, her daughters, Sheila Cottingham, Carol Klagenberg, Linda Craig (John) and Maxine McRae: 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grand-children and one great-great-granddaughter Sabrina. Hazel was born on July 5, 1906 in Selkirk. She later moved to the Meadowdale/Cloverdale District. She married Hunter McRae and together they farmed and raised four children. She enjoyed a full and vibrant life. She lived through the horse and buggy days to the space age and always kept up with world news even when she lived at the Betel Home. Hazel initiated and served as President of the Dales Hospital Aid and was a volunteer for 40 years. She was a member of the Cloverdale United Church, an active member of the Ladies Auxilliary, and also a member of the Selkirk Rotary Annes, Toast Mistress and the Rebecca Lodge. She helped to start the Petersfield Seniors Club and served as President. She loved a good tea party, hats, picnics, growing flowers and travel. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with Rev. Anne Manikel officiating. Interment will follow in the Cloverdale United Churchyard. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
